it has been too long

I am so sorry it has been so long since a post. all of us at paper airplane have been pretty busy the last week, though Zinzi has a bunch of great posts on coffee and oranges. Life is so crazy at the moment with just figuring out how to survive and make rent at the same time. it has been hard to get inspired to post. but awesome things make everything so worth it.

I discovered Midori paper in Seattle when I was there last, the founder, Midori, grew up in Japan and started her Seattle based company in her kitchen in 1989 with the motive to "bring beautiful fabric ribbon she knew as a girl to the United Sates." The company has significantly grown since and is now located in downtown Seattle. The ribbon is wonderful and so is the hand made paper. so check it-

I also think I may want to invest in a pair of Toms Shoes. Every pair of shoes you purchase a pair is given to a child who needs shoes in places like South Africa and Argentina.

is time on my side?

Oh yes it is!

I would love to have this in my new place. I think it might take my stationary/paper/calender/planning/organization obsessed to all the new levels. I think I ought to refrain. Normal people should totally get it though!!

I heart Birdie

Bloesem is doing a world tour, meaning she is interviewing artists about their neighborhoods from around the world. Today's artist caught my eye, Francesca Iannaccone or Birdie1973 on etsy. Francesca is a London based artist who works out of her flat where she lives with her husband and small son. She uses many different awesome medias including bold patterns, different fabrics, wallpaper, and wood probably among others. I had a hard time choosing one or two different pieces of hers so i am posting a few of my favorites.

sweetbeets

i recently discovered Canada based card designer, Lisa Zuraws company sweetbeets. Her cards are pressed using vegetable based inks on 100% post consumer recycled paper. The paper is also made using green-e certified renewable wind-generated electricity. I don't think you can get more eco friendly than that, and I don't think the cards could get more adorable than they are.

old school

i have not posted about cards in way too long, so i thought maybe i would share my discovery of portland based letterpress printers, old school stationers. the company is run by a married couple who met and fell in love in seattle over their shared passion for arts and crafts among other things.

so enjoy...

the start of another week

so zinzi and i had a wonderful weekend while our boyrfriends were at coachela frying in the sun. we started our weekend with the los angeles times festival of books, then to book soup and then we went on a hunt for a puppy that we never found :(. We ended the day with a trip to the pasadena dog park with paddington and then cheap and yummy sushi in old town pasadena. we ended my short weekend on sunday morning by going to swork and sipping lattes and eating bran muffins.

my sunday at work was not so bad, i got to take my first class at paper source, book binding and i made a lovely book and i am very proud of myself. i tried to take a picture of my book but the lighting in my room is so bad. instead i took a picture of a very curious paddington.

got to love them swedes!

As I am moving apartments in the very near future I have been endlessly scouring all kinds of home websites in order to get excited about future decorating. Looking at Ikea is always a more rewarding part of my search because the items therein are actually within my [very limited] price range!

How excited was I, then, when I saw Ikea had put out their summer outdoor collection! I just love all the bright colors and the promise of a bit of California outdoor living. Below are some of my favorites.
